Dear St. Margaret Mary Parishioners,


Our 75th Anniversary presents us with a great opportunity to both reflect on our past and look forward to our future, recognizing that past, present and future are all joined together in the person of Jesus Christ, yesterday, today and forever. We will be celebrating our anniversary for the entire year with special liturgies, speakers, and celebrations and other surprises! We truly have a great deal to celebrate and for which to be grateful.

In recognizing the great tradition of service that is such a hallmark of our St. Margaret Mary Parish, our 75th Jubilee Committee has issued a challenge to a renewed fervor in service to our parish and community. Our hearts should always be open to the Gospel call to share God’s mercy with our neighbor.  What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to turn that celebration into a rash of ministering to our brothers and sisters? 

Therefore, we have set a goal of 75,000 hours of service for our parish during this year of jubilee, beginning October 16, 2011 and ending October 14, 2012. In the coming weeks and months, you can check on suggestions for service opportunities listed in our bulletin and website or create your own program of service that can help us meet our goal. You will also find a form for reporting your hours toward our running total of hours of service. For those of you who do not have computers, there will be a form in the bulletin that can be cut out and put into the collection basket on Sundays. This is a great gift we can present to our community. Let us show the people of the South Bay what St. Margaret Mary is about. No one is too old or too young to take up the challenge. Get involved! Together we can make this anniversary a blessing to all of our community.
